Academia da Cidade
The Academia da Cidade Program is a health promotion policy with a focus on physical activity, leisure, and healthy eating.
The program was first implemented in 2002 by the Health Secretary of Recife. The program currently has approximately 30,000 participants in its 19 “polos” (settings where the intervention occurs, commonly public parks). Academia da Cidade is a community-based physical activity promotion strategy that implements physical activity classes at the community level.

CuritibAtiva
In Curitiba there is a wide variety of programs and opportunities that are favorable for physical activity practice.
The Municipal Sports and Leisure Secretary and the Municipal Health Secretary coordinate and promote most of the public physical activity programs, which are mostly carried out in public parks and recreation facilities. Curitiba has a unique infrastructure of opportunities for physical activity during leisure time such as parks, squares (smaller parks) bicycling and walking paths. To date there are 18 parks (18,580,617m2), 33 preservation areas 19,251,878m2), and 443 squares (2.750.740m2) dispersed in the 75 neighborhoods of Curitiba.

Lazer Ativo
What is LazerAtivo?
LazerAtivo was launched 1999 in the Brazilian state of Santa Catarina as a health promotion program that at this time had the main focus on the promotion of an active lifestyle, healthy eating, and stress management among industrial workers. The program was proposed as a response to the results of a statewide workers health survey performed in the same year, which revealed that around two in each three industrial workers were low active and nearly 50% were inactive in their leisure time.
